I thought all of my fuel lines were replaced so I found the diagram and checked them out, in the color coded diagram the RED hose on the breather was not replaced and then I crawled under and found these two old ones, where do they go? its under the bus and close to that big plastic thing where the heating system connects. does this go into the bottom of the fuel tank? how does this work. is there a diagram of the full fuel system anywhere?

any suggestions or comments on the other two pictures is greatly appreciated.[

whenever you see the crimped style hose clips as in the first photo you can be pretty sure those lines are original. not many shops or people who replace the lines use the crimp clamps. so it's probably time to do it. the hose clips on the lines in the engine bay are not the right kind, they have perforations and these can damage the hose when tightened. the engine bay doesn't look too bad besides that, it is not nearly as filthy as you often see them. i would consider disabling the EGR if you can legally get away with it, it is normally just a source of intake leaks. the valve on the throttle body can be removed and capped.

I cant remove it, in California its a pain in the ass to get these things to pass unless you are lucky enough to know a person who does smog inspections and is comfortable with lying

I have to disagree with Scott on this because in California the 1978 will require EGR to pass smog and be licensed. If you remove it you will likley flunk smog and then your license will expire. It is a real pain to renew now after flunking smog because the CA DMV will only offer (1) 30 day extension to get it fixed then it is 1 day passes to move the car from there on out. I agree with Scott however that the EGR is a weak point.
