I didn't fill it in (either times I've requested them) and the last one I got came back with the color. I'm still waiting for the latest one I ordered. It's been 4 weeks waiting now so I'm like a little kid checking the mail everyday, lol. |

Well, I just got mine the other day and well, Im pretty happy. It had all the info I was looking for including the extra sheet stating that my engine was the original one for the car. I tried to scan it, but my scanner is F'd up and would not work, but here are the particulars on it.
Vin# 2010XXX
113, VW De Luxe Sedan
30 din-ps, 1.2 liter
* L 245 Light Bronze
Built, 7 July 1958
Left Factory, 12 July 1958
Country of Destination USA
Extras
M 128 White Wall Tires
M 350 US-equipment
M 134 Cannot be identified
* Upholstery material or leatherette Green Gray
So, the M134 has me bugged especially after I looked it up and it said
Upholstery, Ice Blue.
Does anyone have another list of M codes that states M134 as something else? :?: Or maybe its just bad info at VW. :?: I know that my car does have a locking T handle on it that works with the ignition key, so my guess would be factory installed and not dealer. :?: |

BTW, clicking on the image will take you out of the samba dot com, and to our webshots albums where you can view 100's of restoration and vw photographs.
I was looking back through the threads, and just noticed that your 58 was built on the same day as mine. Pretty cool! :D |

Well I finally received mine today ordered it on Oct 3,and it shipped on Nov 4th! They had it here in 3 days  I had submitted my engine #, and was too given a seperate sheet verifying that the motor is original to the car. Luckly there were no issues, everything was spot on with what I thought to be correct, and even found out that it was shipped with the bigger battery.

Terry,it looks like you and I have pretty much the same m codes except you get the heavy duty battery. I am still miffed at the m-134 code that shows up on both of our certs. |

I wonder how many Beetles get that same code? I found out the reason for the bigger battery, was that my Beetle was shipped to the East Coast, and the bigger battery aided in the colder weather. |

| This pretty much sucks to say BUT! Im coool with it, kind of..If anyone has followed some of my trheads, you sill see that I had purchased what was thought to me a June of 1954 VW Rag. Well Im back on the Middle East and just coming back from my mid-tour visit from home. I finally got to see my 1954 VW in person, she needs work but I knew that one. When I got home a week after my birth certificate arrived, when I looked and read it they verified that the number was indeed a June of 54 VW. Well I took the BC to the shop where the VW was, and grabbed some acetone to just double check the VIN....WELL..to my surprise, the previous owner was not correct on the VIN. Instead of the first two number being a 1-066 like he said its actually a 1-060. I had the other guys at the shop take a tripple look at it just in case I had crappy eyes and they verified that it was a zero that followed the six. So I photographed the VIN and matched the body number as being a March of 1954, as the VW is an early part of March of 1954 VW..SO! Now I have to send away for another Birth Certificate for my VW. I need to look over all his paper work, cause this could get a little fuzzy...Things to check when you buy online, and dont get to actually put hands on the car... |

Well this probabily changes what the original color and interior were? Would you rather have a March or June 54 :?: |

Hi,
We encountered a problem with these certificates as they can't seem to find my friends Beetle @ the vw museum.. It's supposed to be a '58 ragtop but we would like some more info on it. Are there any other ways to find out? :( |

Weird, I guess then the only thing I can suggest is to try and post some info and or pics here on the forum and see if anyone here can supply you with some info. At least maybe with the orignal color etc. |

Well here's some good news from Mrs. H Fendler...This was all due to me recieving the wrong VIN from the PO before actually puting eyes on it myself. I sent them another email letting them know I had to order another birth certificate for the correct VIN number..check this out:
Dear Mr Valentine,
Thank you for your e-mail. We will research the data for the correct chassis number of your vehicle, but you do not have to pay once more. For the research we need approximately 4 weeks. We ask for your understanding.
Kindly Regards,
Heike Fendler

Their cool at the VeeDub Museum, I dont have to pay a second time. And now I have an extra VW birth certificate with me..well it belongs to someone who has that VIN number..it just has my name on the top..It came all nice though, with some extra info on paint numbers and colors. Now it looks like it will be back in California before Christmas and waiting for me before I come back home in February or March..So Im cool with that.. :P |
