Thanks Mike, I dig it also.

I ordered mine way back in the 90's when it was not as popular as it is now.Mine says it was shipped to belgium. Was wondering as to where it would go next. No where on the B/C did it say USA items. Is mine a true eruo-model that spent time in belgium befote getting shipped to USA?

Does the DMV offer a service to where they can "track" your car using the vin number to see where it has been? It would be interesting to see.

Ordered 7-19,received 8-10. The colors have long since changed but my bus does have the sunroof and the roof windows. What is up with that?

Wow, your '62 must have looked exactly what my '61 looked like. L390 Gulf Blue, Silver Beige leatherette interior, popout windows & US Spec equipment.

Anyone here know what M008 and M045 is? Cause my cert lists them as "unknown"?

I don't want to give out and credit card numbers, Has anybody used those prepaid gift credit card to pay for the Birth Certificate?

RoboRay Mon Sep 07, 2009 5:58 pm

I am also thinking about using one of the gift type credit cards. Anyone done this?

EverettB Tue Sep 08, 2009 10:04 am

If it's a valid credit card, I don't see an issue with it.

I haven't done it myself.

I have a 1970 Beetle. On the English version of the website, it asks for a "Surname", and a "model (if available)".

Is the model a Beetle, a Type 1, or a Käfer?

Do I list my surname or the original owner's?

Also, does the way I type my engine/chassis number matter? (For example: 110 2000 001 vs 1102000001, or B-6-000-001 vs B6000001)?

Thanks a million.

Beetle, although I thought they were asking for the actual model # when I did my Bus so I did 241 (Deluxe Bus)

Your name, it's for your certificate. They don't know who owned it before you.

No on the VIN # formatting, although I would leave out all punctuation.

Thanks so much! Just out of curiosity, where would I obtain the actual model number/code? I've looked at several websites but I just haven't been able to find it.

Has anyone done this since the above post? I'm a little skittish on giving my credit card number out too.

mnussbau Sun Oct 04, 2009 5:53 pm

No reason it shouldn't work, after all, it works just like a credit card. Give it a try and let us know.

I was hoping that my Dealer would have been listed? I know where it was sold from, but it would have been nice to have it included? I wonder if Cars that were "Special" ordered from the factory would have listed the Dealer? My VW was sold on the East Coast, and World Wide VW would have been the destination point prior to being shipped to Stateside Motors in near by Jamestown. I wonder if World Wide would be the actual "Dealer" listed and not where my Car was sold :-k
