Under the new automated "birth certificate" system your credit card is charged immediately. i imagine that you will be refunded once the alloted 6 weeks has expired with no results in finding information. I know that my credit card was charged around a month ago and i still have not seen the certificate :x

so...once again we are back to sqaure one with the whole "birth certificate" process  good luck...... Mine was charged the old way then. I placed the order and 2 months later i got charged. A week later it came in.

I live in Australia and have just ordered mine today for my 1959 bug.
The order process was quite easy! The translator is a must for us non German speaking folk! :?
I will post again when I recieve the birth certificate. 8)

Got my certificate today,Ordered it on March 28 I think.

Of course the color is not mentioned (Which I was hoping for) or the engine number, and I have a m code that is unknown (050)but the rest of it is cool.

Makes me want to order more for the other ones :D

I hear really old VWs don't work since they never kept records up until a certain year, started from the late 40's I'm guessing?. Anyone knows if this is true or not. I want to try with my '44

10 Months  when were you charged for it though? was it a week before it showed up?

55reasons Tue Apr 25, 2006 8:35 pm

Yes. 10 months.

Yes I was charged.

And no it did not contain any information about the car except the VIN that I already gave them.

No color, no interior, etc...

But I'm not surprised, it was shipped as a CKD and the factory 55 paint was bright orange. <-- Not a typo...

It got from them to me in like 5 days or so.

They should put a note in your file and the charge should slide through.

Ditto this, my card blocked the charge and VW sent me an email. I made the call and my credit card company put a note on my account. Should go thru now.

Yep the price went up, and now you get cgarged for it right away no matter how long it takes to find, but at liest you send your credit card info through a secure transfer now, it used to be you would just send it and hope for the best :?

Not so sure about the charging the credit card right away. I faxed them a request with my card number back in February and just got it this week. They ran mine thru the day they mailed it.

I would have preferred that they charge it right away. At least then you would know they actually received it and have it in the system. The waiting and wondering gets old.

The "charging right away" thing is new too, only if you use the new system setup on the museum webpage does it charge right away

Has anyone actually recieved a "Birth Certificate" using the new online ordering system???

I am starting to lose faith in the new and improved birth certificate ordering system, and on top of that they have my money :? :?

Much easier than the copy/paste method. I just ordered mine.

Sitting here tapping my thumbs, awaiting my birth certificate. I can't register my bus as the shipping papers were wrong, and a birth certificate is all that they will take. Four weeks and counting! The sun's coming out, temperatures are rising and I can't use my samba. Should be a law against it!

Skaravaios Tue Jun 06, 2006 8:03 am

Finally got it after 11 weeks. When i took it in my hands i was surprised when i saw the dates. The car seems that left the factory 10 months later than the date i have in my registration license   probably there must be some mistake on the certificate because the registration can't be wrong. I'm so pissed off for waiting that long and finally got a wrong certificate
