Look in the gallery for color ideas.
Otherwise, pink with teal scallops is all the rage right now.

The best color for your bus is whatever you like. Stock colors are good for keeping the bus original, and for resale (I guess). But bottom line is: Do what you like.

See that chain? Follow it. Right. See the guy on the other end yanking it? Thats Ez Gruv. ;)

What's your favorite color? I say head over to the technical section and look at what was offered that year and pick one. I like stock colors. :)

my advice to anyone investing in a paint job is to paint it the original colour. the bus will hold its value far better with its original colour than any other scheme. it might seem a bit boring but if you are having a quality paint job done you are into spending real money and it's smart to protect that money by ensuring easier resale, even of you're not now planning to ever sell it. an original paint colour bus is much much easier to sell than a non-original respray, no matter how well it is done.

Paint it whatever color you want. But guys, come on, you gotta admit that pink and teal would be awesome.

I'd rock it. But maybe I'm biased cause mine is orange and green. :)

But check out busselecta.com you chose different color schemes and test out colors.

Scott, I appreciate your vast contributions to this site and our beloved buses, but there is much more to life than money. I refuse to have resale value dictate my aesthetic choices. IMHO anyone who does so has forfeited one of the greatest gifts that life has to offer—their personality. I have a ’69 Westy and stock color choices are at best boring. If you want to keep your bus its original color that is fine, go for it. For me it makes no sense to spend my hard-earned money for a paint job that I do not like. There are plenty of buses out there for everyone to do as they please with them, and if by chance mine is the last one left I doubt the fact that it is Chrome Yellow and white will have any effect on its resale value.

I'm still waiting to know if he wants a solid or two tone? :D

i understand what you mean. i suppose the way i look at it is i make my aesthetic choices elsewhere than the colour of paint on my bus.

i am an industrial designer (officially) so aesthetic choices are pretty close to my heart and mind, in fact i have made a career out of making them for myself and others. to me there is nothing that looks better than an original paint bus in sweet condition and i like all the colours pretty much equally, as long as they are original, with or without patina.

the argument about original colours and resale value is unassailable. either care about it or you don't.

I have a 69 too; OG white (Lotus White; I think). I plan to do a two-tone; Montanna Red and compatible white on the top (probably same Lotus).

The reason I'm doing this is because I had a friend who had a transporter back in the 70's with the red/white color scheme and I thought it looked great, and it lets the "VW" logo on the front stand out quite a bit.

I may opt to keep it original (Ivory??), in the interim, because this past snow storms in Virginia is eating into my resoration budget (had to buy generator for the house; missed some work) etc.

That said, my current (original) paint has some surface rust I need to treat in the rain gutter and a few other minor areas. If I can't afford to do a complete re-paint, can anyone recommend a procedure in the interim?

Keep in mind, the ole lady won't let me get away with a sanding and priming, so I'll have to come-up with something. Any recommendations?????
