I am back on the Baja project. I have been away for the last 6 months. The car has been sitting out in the driveway without being started or washed. Plans are to get the car cleaned up a bit and ready for daily driver status again. Then, I'll drive it as i get my Ghia on driver status. I'm going to make my Baja a driver/weekend fun kind of car. I was thinking of painting it the Yamaha green with flat black wheels, bumpers, etc.. My brother makes decals, so maybe some sort of artistic type wrap or something to finish it off. I will need good seats (for 4 persons) and a roll cage. Maybe a stereo system to tune out some of the noise. I am considering re-installing the stinger pipe. The back end just doesn't look right without it. Well, i'm looking forward to posting the process and getting some feedback and opinions from you guys and gals. It's good to be back.

Good to see that you are back in a bug. Good deal for 400, I would have bought it for that price.

The stinger is back on the car. I also replaced the exhaust seals on the j-tubes and re-installed the rear engine cage. I still have issues keeping the engine running after the choke cuts off. I'm at my wits end. I have swapped carbs to a 34 pic. Changed the fuel filter. Made sure the carb is getting power. It starts and runs well, the motor just wont idle. Ant thoughts?

--Vacuum leak?
--Carb needle have trash in it?
--Float not sticking?
--Idle screw not turned out far enough? (@ 2 to 3 turns out from bottom to start)
--Trash in your idle jets or bowl?
--Mixture screw not turned out far enough? (2 1/2 to 3 turns out from bottom to start)
--Carb bolted on tight?
--If dual port, no leaks in manifold boots?
--Got the fast idle screw set correctly? (turn only a 1/4 turn more once the screw just touches the fast idle cam in the no choke/open position)
Mine would not idle worth sh*t either, so I did the poor man's carb rebuild by covering the top of the carb with my hand momentarily while it was running at @ 3500rpms and let it recover, then I did it again and it idled perfect after that. Good luck and keep us posted.
Thank you for your services over seas and may God bless you.
