1973 bus, dual carb, 1700:

Do you know if I can take the original air filter housing
off of a 1972 bus and put it on my 1973 bus?

The PO left me without the two little air filters.

A guy is parting out a 1972, but it's an hour south and
I want to make sure before I drive.

My other option is to get one from a store in town for $100.
That seem too much, or totally worth it?

You should be able to find what you need here in the classifieds.

Seems like it should fit OK.

However, IIRC 1972 buses used oil bath type air cleaners, while '73 & '74 models were equipped with replaceable dry paper air filter elements.

I think one post should be sufficient, don't you? Especially considering the question was already answered in your other post. If you need a '73-'74 air filter housing for stock dual carbs, I have one I'd be happy to part with. PM me with your ZIP code for a quote with shipping.

'72s used an oil bath air cleaner. '73s used a replaceable paper filter.

The preheater is located on a different spot on '72s so you won't be able to use it unless you do some major modifications. The mounts should be the same, but you'll also be unable to hook up some of the vacuum hoses.

Personally I'd try to locate a '73 intake. Will be much easier for you in the long run.

The linkage won't clear either, get the plastic box.
