I have some Jetta wheels, not sure what year, was thinking of putting them on my 72 Bus. They fit on with out the center cap. Can i cut the flange on the center cap to reinstall it? I tried a couple searces, no answers. Thanks

Need help, I have some VW rims, 7JX16H2. I believe these are Jetta. they fit on the front of my 72 Bus with out the grease cap. can i run without the cap, just using the center cap with the VW logo that came with the wheels? I have tried a few searches, but unable to find the answer. Also need to know what size tires they will accept. By the way, dont know jack about tires Thanks

They should be fine without the grease caps, but with the VW logo caps. They will throw a little grease inside the wheel hub, but that's a "small price to pay" to make them fit! Check them every time you change your oil, but I doubt they'll need much grease?

The bolt pattern is different. Close but different. The jetta wheels are 5 x 100 while the bus is 5 x 112. The wheels are not a direct bolt on and will come loose. Do not mount these.

Wrong- Mark V and up watercooleds are 5x112. He may or may not have some of those- without pictures or part numbers, we don't know which wheels he has.

Wrong- Yes Mk5 wheels are 5 x 112. But bay windows have a 5 x 112.5. Did not know that I had to specify the exact number. The only car to my knowledge that has the same bolt pattern is Vanagon or Mercedes Benz.

It fit but the front wheels need to be machined and the rear cannot have centered cap

I did a test last summer, in front I remove the grease cap

Where did you get the 112.5 number from?

Thanks for the info. The only prob now is 1 of the 4 Jetta rims is n.g. Icould try to find one. Some guy here has 4 Euro Van rims, he says are 5X112. Anyone running these on their late Bay?

Eurovan fit on the Bay
5x112 are available on some Audi, some Mercedes, VW Transporter 68-79, Vanagon 1980-1992, Eurovan/Transpoter 1993-200?, Vw Passat 1997-2010, Jetta and Golf Rabbit MK5 2005-2009 and new MK6 Golf Rabiit, Jetta 2010.
The only thing is, with Audi and Mercedes and VW Passat, Golf/Rabbit and Jetta MK5 and MK6, you need to machine the center hole to fit the hub.
