Does anyone know about the quality of the repo stock wheels out there?
I found some 4 lugger 5.5s at mamotorworks
Is there somewhere I can get a good set of real 5.5s? |

| I've never seen any problems with aftermarket wheels, but i'm sure there are cheaper places than Mid America. |

| I have a set of the repop wide 5 5.5's you posted. I bought them from MAM cause they had the cheapest price on the set that I could find. No issues with quality (I don't know if I would trust the chrome quality on the chrome ones, I bought painted ones and blasted them and powder coated them black). My only gripe was that I had to tweak with the hub cap clips some to get my hub caps to install. Nothing major, just had to bend them in a little bit cause they were SO TIGHT I couldn't get the caps on. |

Just saw this thread in the 356 forum
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=399635
The only difference I can see is the shape of the slot. The repro version pictured above has the "peanut slot" like the stock 66 67 rim. The original Porsche and reproduction "chromie/mangel" have a "D" shape slot.
What I like about the repro above is you have the look of the 66 67 rim with the ability to use the 65 and earlier cap. I run original 66 rims on my 60 but cannot run the 66-67 hubcap due to the front drum. |

Those sport wheels also come in 4 1/2 and 5 1/2. That is what i have on my race car. 4 1/2 up front, 5 1/2 rear.

| There are a few things you never buy the cheapest of... wheels, tires, brakes, wipers, oil, and gas. |
