I'm not making a thread just to show my new bus. I am using this showing my progress and posting questions.
Well, after three LONG bus-less months I swapped some modern luxury for a bus!!
After moving to Wyoming I realized that a lowered "show" bus was just not cutting it out here! It was nice cruising the beaches in CA, but shuddered at the thought of hitting a mountain!
Traded some SHOW for some GO!!
Right now I have it pulled in the garage in the "decontruction" phase! It had the interior from a 78 Westy in it. I took the sink/stove and the fridge out. Gonna leave the sink/stove out and build a cabinet for behind the driver's seat. Gutting the fridge, possibly making it just an ice chest.?.
Replacing the shifter bushings as well. The rear coupling was almost busted, so why not.
Also working on the rack. Which is a Norwegian Army rack! Sanding it down and spraying it soon.
And just wait until you see the headliner!!
I don't know much about Type Is to begin with, but I know even less about these Type IVs!! So there will be plenty of questions to come!! |

I was wondering about the wheels myself! There are no marking anywhere...
And YES, Wyoming is COLD!! Actually we love it here! More sunny days than Miami!! It's just -25 with 60mph wind!! 8)
Trey, your on!! As soon as I can shift gears!! |

Thats a great looking bus! Best of luck with it.
You are a brave man to drive that out there though. Big hills and fast winds are not what busses were made for. Drive carefully. |

| Nice bus! Welcome back, I was just wondering if you still had a bus. Lowered busses just don't fit around here. Too many hills, bumps etc. Look forward to your progress. Three way race trey! |

Thanks Kirk! I loved ol' Baloo, he just didn't fit in around here!!
Got the fridge unit taken apart. Gonna look for a drain plug for the bottom of the "new" cooler. Making the left side (that mostly just held fridge workings) into storage bin.
I got a plan for the sink/stove...
I am trying to use or reuse as much from the OG interior as possible.
I can't hardly wait for that damn shifter coupling!! |

Jeff,
Who did you order the shifter parts from?
I ordered jets for my baja Friday. That is all it needs to be done. I cant wait for those to get here!
Where are we going camping? |

I ordered from BusDepot.
I have a few Weber jets if you need them |

| Ah, the hell with it. I already ordered them. Aircooled.net were the only ones who had the sizes I needed, and had the highest price. Imagine that! |

I took a couple pictures of the headliner!!
If anyone knows who had this bus let me know! It was sold in Iowa about 16 years ago to an older cat...
I did not know Jah was a homo!! Not in poor taste! I'm just kidding!
Probable cause!!
I need a sending unit for the Temp gauge. The Volt & Oil Pressure both work though!! As does that crooked Tach! I gotta get a working tune box, and get all that junky radio wiring out of there! And yes, I did adjust my parking brake!! Need something for that Silver Socket too!

I forgot the most important thing!!
I have FOUR fuel filters in the engine compartment!! I know, that's four too many!! I have been searching for fuel line routing options and I'm coming up pretty bare... Help me out fellers!
The electric fuel pump is in the engine bay as well.
1 right under the tank-- before the fuel pump
Move the pump under the bus-- right?
1 filter after the pump
Is that sufficient? Should there be a filter after the "T" for each carb? Or is that just excess? |

| All you really need is one between the tank outlet and the pump (preferably under the tank). |

| As far as buses not doing well in snow and hills, they were made in Germany.. I owned a bus in Missoula Montana, and it was the greatest thing ever. Friends all made jokes about being ready to pull me out in their 4X4s, but my bus was always willing and able to do the beer run in the worst blizzard conditions. Most important thing, defrost.. I used a illtle 12 volt heater that I propped up on my dash.. Good luck, nice bus. |
