Well I took a few pictures of the motor.
Opinions please! Except on the FOUR fuel filters in the egine bay! I know I know! As soon as it's not snowing I'm changing quite a bit. Just looking for things I might miss.
Also, what is this?
And now the real kicker!! I was looking at my carbs today, and found I have these!
I searched and found this thread:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=187459&highlight=lado
I see that thread is kinda dated, anything arise on these in the past couple years?!?
As always I damn sure do appreciate any and all RELEVANT info given! I'm learning though! |

Hahaha. I love that many fuel filters.
I have that many, but they are hidden under the Westy! |

| Four filters with cheese grater clamps! Cool! The other pic is of the diagnostic or analysis socket I believe. VW proprietary stuff I think. |

| My 74 Westy came with 4 fuel filters as well. It turned out that the gas tank was full of rust. We cleaned and resealed it and are down to 1 fuel filter. |

I FINALLY got the new coupling in!! Getting the old one of was wrestling a bear! And you see what happens when you don't support the tranny!!
I was concerned with the quality coupling I might recieve after reading various threads on them. But BusDepot came through with a nice Brazilian one. Everything fit like a glove.
This thing handles quite well in the snow too!

Painted the spare wheel and installed fog lights! Snatched the lights off a notchback in the junkyard! Lucas lights. The bulbs still work!!
Also I gotta show the world where my priorities are!

Been a while since posting anything on here. I can't stop loving this bus long enough to log on!
Since last post, mechanically speaking I have done very little. WOO HOO!! I have only replaced one side CV joints. What a fun job that was!
MOVED THE 5 FUEL FILTERS! And now I have working oil temp gauge.
I have put some love into the inside of this thing though!! I found an ENORMOUS rats nest above the headliner. I guess it happens after sitting in a barn for 12 years! I was way too disgusted by the whole thing to take any pictures! Just think BAD!! REALLY BAD!! 3 Dead mice, and buckets of mouse poo! While it was down it gave me a chance to re-insulate the roof, and paint the headliner.
After irradicating the habitat I cleaned... EVERYTHING!! Bumper to bumper, rack to rubber!!
I sanded and urethaned the closet and "fridge" (cooler) and called it good. I found a really nice Westy table at a junkyard and decided to keep my cooking to a Coleman outside of the bus!
The flooring is a $20 box of sticky tiles put down on plywood with sound deadener on the under-side.
All in all, I'm all in love with this one!!

Hmm? Will old Subaru wheels fit a bus? I'll look around at that. Thanks.
This thing never ceases to amaze me. Absolutely perfect for weekend camping. And don't let me get started about a bluegrass festival!! I'm constantly thinking about different/better ways to pack & set up camp. There's a science to it! Might take a minute to park Just Right but I have found nothing quite like a badass bus campsite!! My wife has always been a great sport about camping and backpacking. but she really takes pride in being the ones staying in that bus!!
Tom I'll have to look into those... i'd really like to squeeze atleast another weekend trip before it s.n.o.w.sshhh!! |
