Hi Surreysplit, have you send the right VIN number? becouse 038266 doesn't look to be your vin number.
Did you try using museum's site?

'58 Binz Cert.

Not sure why it says M176, this one came with ribbed bumpers. They've been know to be wrong also.

Cant believe she was white...

Whats a dual-circuit brake system? I think I only have one reservoir for my brakes.. Now after this 10 inches of snow melts I gotta go look at my MC..

Or is it electrical?

Here's the certificate for my 1959 Kombi-turned-Westy. The build date on the certificate is a couple days off from the M-Code, which was stamped 30 06 9, indicating June 30 rather than July 2.

The M-Code plate for comparison to the BC

The engine certification document confirms the original engine to the bus. They would only provide this document after I sent them a request that included the engine number I wanted to compare against their records.

Kent, i didn't realize our buses are that close! i am 486 801 obus wrote: Got mine today!!! My printer/scanner is down so i will have to post it at a later date...

my m code plate says july1 1959 but the certificate says july 3 1959. it left the factory on july 22 and was shipped to San Francisco. I guess that time in between was the time it waited to be shipped over????? no surprises between the 2. All mine says as far as mcodes:

m175 bumpers w/ guards
m184 walk through cab
m372 us package including
m020 mph speedometer
m024 rear flasher signal red
m090 laminated windscreen glass
m175 ram protection

engine info: 30din-ps 1.2 liter

since i don't have the original engine i could not supply them the engine number nor do they give it out.

Small world, ain't it :D ! Whether you look at the mcode date or the BC date, they are only a day apart. The original owner took delivery from Westfalia on August 20th, according to my documents. I kinda wish mine had ram protection bumpers like yours. Mine just has the single blades. It does have the little assist step by the passenger door, but I assume they all do. From what I understand, my BC is incorrect by defining the M-156 code as the larger oil bath air cleaner. Not sure what it's supposed to be though...
