you obviously haven't seen the new heat reflective standard for next generation cars then... coated windows that block not only solar heat but radio emissions...
.....radio emissions? Do tell. I will consult with my glass guys at work Monday, they do it all (including combat bullet-resistant stuff, which is called "transparent armor"), sounds like fun. |

Not exactly an 'accessory' from the UK, more of a major upgrade, but rather than start a new thread I thought it fitted in this one quite well.
I picked up the latest edition of Ultra VW magazine today, there was a news article on Danbury Motorcaravans (Beetles UK), the UK importers and camper convertors of the new Brazilian Type 2 T2c Kombi. They have now commenced selling these Type 2s with Power Steering for 2010. The article says they can be "retro-fitted":

I heard they have been working with Creative Engineering to develop this, on Creative's site it appears kits will be available some time soon:

Trouble is, last time Creative teamed up with Danbury, adapting their T1 Steering Rack Kits for the bay window, this happened:
Quote: "The kit is available only from Danbury where it can be safely fitted by their trained technicians. All enquiries should be made direct to them."
See here in context:

I'm a bit of a purist, so the old unaided steering adds to the whole experience for me, but I think my wife would like this, also it opens up lots of potential for different people, must be some bus owners out there with disabilities who curse the old fashioned steering. I wonder how much it will cost?
Edit Quote: The power steering and direct drive package is available for £3495+VAT Expensive, and VAT is back up 17.5%, I think I'd rather buy a second bus or an old beetle to restore! |

I think that this is a good idea but way too expensive:
http://www.justkampers.com/shop/type_2_bay/type-2-...14576.html
same one as CIP http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=C27-J14576
chimneyfish I think that's for the Brazilian T2 imports to U.K. who knows if it has any thing like 68+ bus front end. |
