Hello
I am not at all a bus guy (yet). So I have to ask you.
A while ago I found a NOS speedo pod. It was really totally unused,
in great condition and came with two keys.
I was very excited and pleased and I planed to use it some day in my
1949 sedan beetle.
But now I noticed that the hole for the speedo is just 95 millimeter wide.
A split beetle speedo has 100 millimeter diameter. I wondered how that could be and had no answere. Then I remembered that early busses also had those pods.
Can it be that a bus speedo is smaller than a beetle one?
I do not have one to check it, so maybe one of you can?
Thank you, Carsten.

I just happen to have my BD speedo pod on my desk, and the hole in the pod is 95mm. Unfortunately, I don't have the speedometer here at the moment.
Would it not make sense that the speedometer is 5mm bigger, as it mounts from the back, and rests inside that raised lip?
I was not aware that the hole for a split beetle was different. |

| On the deluxe BD and the deluxe split beetle the speedo trin ring goes through the face of the dash pod to show the chrome ring. The standard beetle and non deluxe BD's the trim ring is brown and goes behind the dash pod face. There is two differnt dash pods the trim rings are the same size on the speedo |

I think that is true, here's the speedo of my old 51 standard Brezel.
No chrome bezel visible here and also black switches. Compare the color of the NOS one to my brownish yellowed aged original ! :D
so obviously your pod is right, but the speedo is not.
