Of course you would have the change the rear hatch. You would have to re-engineer the entire rear end of the vehicle. The picture you posted is a Brazilian Bay. Search the forum and you'll find plenty of pics of them, look at the rear shots. Those Buses use the same hatch that was discontinued on the Split Windows in 1962. It's not gonna work, you can tell that by just looking at it.

There is no reason that can't be made to work. It's not like he is saying "I want to turn my bus into an airplane". of course it will take custom fabrication, but that is to be expected. but really, there has been much harder mods done to VW's over the years. Go for it, it would be cool! would you change the windows to the early square ones all around? or keep the long side windows?

Just fly to Curacao, cut the whole rear clip off and fly home. Bingo! Your set.

could always narrow the stock hatch. anyway, with that rear shot, it kinda reminds me of this :)

Here are a couple more shots of the same Bus. I talked to the owner for a while, he was living in it right here on the ocean in Curacao. He said it wasn't as much fun as it sounded like.

After thinking about it, its not that difficult. I am first going to consult with the peeps that I know and maybe I'll be able to source a rear clip of a split window. I feel strong on the idea and I personally think I will enjoy it.

Yeah, I like it. I will first start by making that the heights of the windows are the same. I already know this is a "hack" job but I sure as hell will not put all the work to making it work and have different height windows, that will look stupid.
