Hi,
I have a 1978 Westfalia camper bus. I would like to buy the complete brown curtain set from Bus depot. Has anyone bought this and used it in their bus? How is the fit, quality, color....?
Thanks |

Not the answer to your question, but curtain plans are available for free in the "files" section of the Yahoo! Westfalia group.
See link below. Hopefully, this can help someone, somewhere. |

| do you not have any curtains? or are they just faded? if fading is the case, why not give Dying a try. a 3 dollar bottle of RIT liquid dye will easily dye your curtains. |

Original curatin material in late Bays will not accept dye (I tried). |

I don't have a sewing machine and don't really feel like making it. I think it would be a hassle to buy the materials and make it yourself or have an auto upholstery place make it. Wouldn't it be cheaper to by a complete already made set from bus depot? Mine are faded and some pieces are ripped.
Thanks |

I just found a local seamstress and had her make up a set once. I measured all the windows and she sewed 'em up. Wasn't hard at all. Have you figured out a rail system yet?

My bus has all the original rails in place so that won't be a problem. May I ask how much the local seamstress charged to make a complete set of curtains for you?
Thanks |

It was about 4 years ago but if I remember right it was about $70 plus the material. |

| I am going to use Sunbrella fabric for their non fade characteristics. |

That's expensive and maybe a bit stiff for curtains. Sure would last though. |

I used Sunbrella 2nds at about $10 a yard. The stiffness isn't a problem. I did this about a decade ago.
I will never need to change curtains again! |

| If you're not really concerned with OEM curtains, try searching Amazon for "valance". I got mine for $7 each. Turns out a standard window valance is just about the exact size of the bus curtains. The number of choices is astounding. |

| If your going to do it you might as well get a material to last. Also you might want to have the windows tinted or a clear film that blocks UV to preserve the curtains, interior and yourself. The only thing the faded OG curtains are good for is the dimensions. |

| I had them installed on my bus when I bought it. Ugly color but they did the job. |

Oooh! Thank you. That file is very nice, and I need to make up at least a front curtain. |
