Needed a coil on the quick as my negative post on my current crap butt coil came loose and is causing intermittent shorts. The new one was an autozone special, the only one in stock. Probably made in some slave labor camp in bangladesh. So, I haven't put it on yet but noticed when I took it out of the box that it has some liquid in it. When I shake it sounds like its full o' water. Is this normal? I've never noticed liquid in one. We will see how much good it will do me when I swap it out in a little bit. Anywho. Thanks for any knowledge.

all coils IMO have oil inside to cool them but if it is leaking...then bad. return for a dry one. But I could be wrong......

No, its not leaking. nice and dry. guess i just never noticed. maybe this one is just a little shy of full of oil so it sloshes around. i dunno.

What brand is the autozone coil you picked up? Bosch blue coils works great for me, (the good Bosch blue coil) as I've had ignition related issues with the cheaper blue coil. More on that here.

What werksberg said. Some do 'slosh' more than others, but it doesn't seem to hurt performance or longevity, as long as there's no oil leaking out.

I had an autozone coil on my bus and about 6 months after I put it in it began leaking oil from the top of it. I threw that sucker away and got a bosch blue.

Coil is BWD. Made in china. Oy. But hey, my other coil mustve been weak because gonzo is running much better with this new one in. Ill run it for a while then try to source a german bosch.

The cheap Bosch Mexican ones have tar inside and not oil.
