| I've got a front mounted spare that I'm considering to remove. There's no room inside the campmobile for a spare, and I like the look of rear mounted swing arm style that are occasionally pictured on TS. I couldn't find any rear fold out spare carriers in the classifieds, and not sure if a properly fitting unit exists on the general market. Does anyone know where to find these, and are the worthwhile to use :?: |

| I think you could find such an animal at the junk yard.Jeep, Bronco or the such. The problem would be to re-enforce the mount area. How about mounting it on the side like a Jerry can? |

| Why is there no room in your camper for a spare? Westfalia designed a cabinet with a spot right in it for the spare tire. Rear mounted spares look awful IMHO, but it's your Bus.....hack away. |

Leave it down. More aerodynamic. Make a nice step for a roof rack or climbing in the hatch. Added protection in a rear ender. Like the old bumper cars. Plus a niece seat for alongside the road engine repairs. |

what I originally had in mind the "Landmark Conversion", > thanks SG
The bluebird looks to fit well, and a MUCH easier application.

| We had the "landmark" style custom made. I didn't like the blue bird setup since it looks annoying to have your spare tyre in front of the engine bay when you need to work on it. The swing away is much easier to use since picking up your 25kg tyre from the ground every time you opened the rear hatch becomes quite tedious over time. |

no kidding. that's a retarded idea to have the spare flop onto the ground like that. having flip out sideways would be cool. i don't think i'd like to drill holes in the bus to do it however. |

| I've been meaning to build those for years. ok maybe a year, but still. Shame I can't settle on a style, but that drop down one looks nice, cheap too! Not even gonna try and compete with that, my parts making days are petering out. That said you may see a prototype or two in the classifieds this spring, so keep an eye out if you are interested. or if you are .serious. about getting one built pm me. tire kickers can drive a poor guy mad. |
