Hello all,
Im having problems understanding my birth certificate. According to the registry, my vin number falls under a march build time frame, although the birth certificate states otherwise (Apr 17, 1951). Is there possibly an explanation for this, other than the museum gave me the wrong dates? I was also thinking my car could have been an american split since it has the MPH speedometer, but the cert also shows germany as its home. Are there any difinitive characteristics to imported splits? Also, for some reason or another, it appears that my car was converted to right hand drive (its LHD now). And it also has a 1950 ragtop clip. Lastly, at some point in the car's life, the body number dissapeared due to who knows what. is there a way to look these up? Thanks for your time....
Very Respectfully,
Murray Wilson

Don't forget the numbers in the date section on here are for the last chassis no built that month. Yours is an april car.
Speedo's can be changed very easily, maybe the car came to the UK for a bit? Would explain the RHD thing too!!
Be great to see some pictures
The factory should be able to give you the body no

Thanks Seb,
Im still confused as to how those dates correspond, but I'll figure it out  . The factory has the body numbers? By factory, do you mean museum? or do i need to contact someone else? |

Hi
Contact the museum, they have the body numbers (They are owned by the factory)
They may be funny about telling you the numbers. I know they will not tell you the engine number, only confirm if its right or not. I suppose it stops creating a matching no car
Has your front end had a lot of work?

Seb,
to my knowledge, no. It appears that whatever did happen up front was a very early repair in the cars life, as in 1956-57ish time frame. |
