| im not sure ill have to check it in the morning, the diagram i used was the one from the tech section but oldvolks.com has one where instead of green on 15 its black, another thing is the switch in my bently has different terminals then my actual switch but my switch is the correct part number.... i hate wiring |

| hey busdaddy i checked this morning and there is no power to the green wire at all key on or off.. i checked all the fuses and they are all good... has anyone actually killed the po for screwing with the wiring? |

Are you using a wiring diagram to compare your wiring
looking at the diagram you will see on the fuse panel where power feeds the circuit for your switch. |

| Yep, the green wire should come from fuse #11, no key power means no signals. The hazards are fed by #30 when the switch is pulled so it sounds like the rest of the system is close to working. |

| so i traced the power sources and one comes from the ignition switch (black) and the other comes from the coil made sure everything was plugged in but still no power, i know the switch has power because the headlights wouldnt work unless the switch was on..... thanks again guys this has been driving me mad |

| so i tested my ignition switch (newer style) and i have constant to the red and to the grey, when i turn the key i have power to the black and yellow, and the black, grey has no power and it pops the nuber 11 fuse.... my switch also dosnt spring back to the run position maybe my switch? i just bought it a year ago |

So now start eliminating the other things connected to fuse 10. that maybe causing the fuse to pop.
rear window defogger is e15
You are closing in on your problem :) |

when the key doesnt spring back, it is not the fault of the ignition lock cylinder, it is the fault of the electrical switch behind the lock cylinder. beware the non-german new ignition switches- they suck.
connectors at the lights arent the only contacts to corrode and lose continuity. fuses also corrode and lose continuity. give them all a twist before trying anything else. |

| alright new ignition switch installed and still nothing.... im starting to give up.... i have to say i know my way around cars mechanics and electrics but this really has me at a loss absolutley everything is hooked up how bently says and it dosnt work.... what about the dimmer relay would this really keep it all from working? even if the e-flashers are working? |

| Disconnect everything from fuse 11 if it's the one blowing and reconnect one at a time, when it blows let us know. |

dimmer relay has nothing to do with that circuitry.
you need to test for current all along the supply line to find out where it isnt connecting. be sure the ignition switch you just hooked up is supplying current to the fuse block. then test from there. test,test,test.... |

| since theres a lot about it already Ill write in this one.In my 69 turn signals used to work. But now none of them work nor the emergency 4 way.so ive been working on it for a few days trying to figure according to the wiring diagram and the relay diagram of the 1970.I installed a new relay. It keeps making the blinking sound when the key is turned on but no lights.when i pull the emergency switch, #10 fuse blows.all 6 lights work when i pull the light switch so the bulbs are good.at one point this morning i thought i saw the light at the end of the tunnel, the back flashers worked when I activated the flasher arm but 30 seconds later it wouldnt work.i checked the emergency switch like bentley says, 0 ohms.I checked flasher arm , 2 ohms.HELP |

| Where'd you get the replacement relay and how many terminals does it have? Did it match the old one? Done any other messing around with any wiring? |

the relay is brazilian from cip1.theres only one wire with power, the white one coming from the 4way switch.the blue wire coming from the 4way switch is connected to term 49a with the black green white from the flasher arm.I am suspecting the emergency switch.some messing around have been done because only one flasher would work.
like i said at one point this morning rear flashers would work,i didnt change anything and they stopped working.
the other 2 wires are a brown one going to the dash(its removed)to the wiper switch and wiper motor.the other one is the blue one on P term going to light the dash(working) |
