I've just been sorting through a box of 25hp crank pulleys. I have quite a few but most of them need work. One of them is different to the standard 'thin lip' Split pulley. This odd one weighs less, does not have any 'lip' at the rear, the puller holes are more oval than the usual rectangular ones and the central boss has 12 spot-welds. All dimensions appear to the same as the standard 25hp pulley, but I have never seen one like this before. Any ideas?
Top: odd pulley. Below: standard 25hp pulley...

Early pulleys did not have the puller holes. I do not know when that change took place but May 49 parts book does not show them. And they are clearly visible in Sept 1950 parts book. However, rounded edges could indicate the holes in your pulley are self made. Also the lower puller hole in your picture seems to be in a weird position.

As far as I'm aware, all early pulleys had the puller holes- they just weren't illustrated in the parts books.
Still confused about this odd pulley. |

No puller holes on a KdF lower pulley is correct.
Not sure what you have there Rich? :? |

Thanks guys.
Certainly all the 47,48,49 engines I've seen have puller holes and you can clearly see them in the 1948 instruction manual.
