Are you building a museum bus or one that you are going to enjoy?

I didn't find anyone that makes the original green vinyl like mine ('79 Westy sage green) came with. The green is a color similar to the seat back vinyl. However, my vinyl wasn't too bad even though the hardboard was shot from water damage so I made new cards from masonite and glued the vinyl back on.

my bus is not destined for a museum, but i like to have correct spares when i pay for them. i will have a look into TMI ones, if the colors will not be right, i think that i will reglue the old ones to a new cardboard waiting for the future when correct ones will be available...
thanks for the info

Ok & I can understand that. But do like the other guy stated as the oem, tmi and other stock panels copied the oem holes and the bottom 10 holes for the stock clips are miss placed......

Just a heads up for you and also use 2 layers of plastic sheeting too!

That's a good idea to re-use the vinyl from your originals. With a bit of patience and effort, (and a mild buzz from spray adhesives) , you will be much more pleased with the results from the so-so fit & finish of TMI panels.

yes, but there is the problem that the old vinyl has to be heated to go in the new shape, and the result will be less quality and appeareance, because the heat seam will not be glued to the card in the center graphic lines. do someone have an idea to reglue the lines again?

i put TMI panels in my '66 splitty, and I liked them, as well as in my 57 oval window.

My body man said "With the stuff that you can get today , you can stain or die your door and kick painels any color " so you can blend and test sample on the back to match .

With every ABS plastic interior panel that I sell, I include a sample scrap ABS piece for the owners to test cleaners, wax, painting or covering them with other materials

A green way to recycle and saves someone from using the wrong treatment on the ABS!

Here's a link someone in the split bus posted with their panel resto results ==> clicky

Like I mentioned, patience and effort pays off. I'm all for reusing parts if at all possible. That said, there are many very nice reproduction panels made with more modern materials that will likely outlast the rest of your bus. You have many options. At the very least, I wouldn't trash your old ones.

*edit, wrong link originally.

Thats a pretty crappy link.... Kinda dead ends in the middle of nothing..

original post link edited, chalk that up to copy/paste error on my part.
