Bruce,
Thanks for the explanation. I have gone out and re-created what you have done (at least I think I have). I got 10 gauge red wire and put a large ring connector on it and put on stud right on top of where positive cable from battery + comes in. Is that ok?
Then I am leading that 10 gauge up to a 40 amp maxi fuse holder (got it from west marine $26) right next to regulator. From the fuse holder I then go directly to B+ on regulator. Then on the other male end from the B+ hub on regulator goes the main power feed to front. I am moving the battery to under seat so need to re-route the positive battery cable to under seat (will ground like you did in your photo) and will use the grommetted hole in firewall (where the positive battery cable came through) to bring the 10 gauge fuse wire to fuse holder. Still sound ok?
It took me a while to find the larger disconnect (.375) for the regulator but now I notice I also need to bring in a small defrost wire to that B+ hub. I see you only have the two larger gauge wires. I could splice the smaller red from fused defrost line in with the 10 gauge from fuse box into the larger female disconnect. Does that sound like a good idea or is there somewhere else that I can bring in the defrost wire?

Thanks for all your help....almost there...cant wait to test it all (and see where all my mistakes are!)

Yes, that's exactly what I did.

Yes that's fine for easy access. Make sure the lead from your starter stud to the fuse is well secured since it is not protected. I used cable clamps sheet-metal screwed to the bottom of the "package tray"(?) which is the horizontal sheetmetal above the tranny.

Yep, dead on.

Napa has them on the shelf.

If you have screw terminals on your MaxiFuse like I do, just add another ring terminal and stack it on the output screw (the side of the fuse that is fused). If you do not have terminals on your maxiFuse you could tap power from the B+ of the battery.

For a beginner, it sounds like you have done an excellent job. Keep up the good work!

Good Luck!

All the wiring kits Iv'e seen say for genrator model
Im looking for a new wiring harness for a late model Ghia which had an alternator installed by the po. Is there ones made for alternators or do you just modify the genrator harnesses? Thanks !

You use a generator harness then wire for the alt. there is a nice description here.

I've read that it's not much involved to convert to Alt.
