maybe not the best thread, but let's try and observe things in the following pic. i won't say what i noticed, but let you have a shot at.
(not my pic, not my cars, hope the owner does not take it personally and hope the cars are finished by the time we are talking here)
later edit
ok, must clarify something. it is not about nitpicking.. what's correct or not.... i thought some clues of what these cars were are hidden in the picture. no one said anything wrong/mean yet so i basically want to keep it this way. the cars are in restoration process so wrong things are still on.
things already revealed : pre 49 decklid and early light on the split.
no one said "man these cars are wroong... scrap metal etc. "
PLEASE don't say "wrong fenders or wrong decklid" but to add something... "shiny pan under the coloured oval"

Hey I have no problem with it. But soon you'll get all the comments "why must we nit pick people's cars", "show me your perfect VW or shut up", "too many people have already left the hobby for just this very reason", etc, etc. etc.

I'll take a shot, and I feel like I'm putting my neck on the chopping bolock for this. The resolution of the photo makes it hard to say for sure, but when I look at the oval and split it looks as if the side windows are too large. I.e., I cannot convince myself I'm seeing a real split and oval. I'm trying to look at what little I can see of the pans to judge if they are correct, but again, more resolution is necessary.

Exhaust cutouts on the split are filled, the oval on the left has sharp arches on its cutouts. Each of the hardtops only has one bumper bracket hole.

Aha I have it what every one missed: NO tires or wheels on the three on the right. Now that is what I call nit pixing.

forget about the bugs....the building/concrete bunker was built way before they were...so it's not in the proper time frame. also, the column on the left looks like a giant apartment washing machine/dryer combo made out of concrete. what's up with the new stainless steel refrigerator under the bug on the left? also, why would the owner leave five 8-foot sausages leaning against the wall under the west coast customs bug on the right?
