Well that's what i need help with. Found these two locally. Trying to figure out what year the vert is and how much you guys think these are worth. Pictures arent great but i tried to get one of the verts vin plate but only the stamp in the body came out. Keeping in mind that the hardtop is real solid and mostly complete and the vert is missing the motor and some other parts and the floor is gone, what do you think each is worth? I guess which year the vert is will determine that. Thanks in advance.

Both are 56-57

Vert 5,000 -6500 if complete
hardtop 2500 or so if you just trying turn them

Vert doesnt look complete. Bonnet and rear wheel look missing from the pic.

How in the hell do you people find these things???? I have kept my eye out for years and can only run across crap. Maybe one day I will hit the jackpot. :?

Tell everyone you know that your into VW and don't get caught without a VW shirt on....drive a VW everywhere you can...that's how I find a lot of my stuff.

Im going to do my best to get both. The guy knows what he has so he might want too much. I have a good feeling about the hardtop but the vert he might have trouble letting go.

My close buddy used to do that years ago. Never had anyone offer to sell him an old VW. But one guy in downtown Palo Alto tried to sell him some dope. He quit wearing the T-Shirt after that. :wink:

No good news yet. He's "having a hard time giving them up". Im sure for the right price they could be mine right now but his price is not close enough to my price yet. I won't give up on them. I will be making another trip over there soon to get the vin numbers from the body and chassis. He said he dated the number on the frame of the vert to be 52 or 53 but that has been years ago. I need to get all the numbers to see what's what. If i am able to show him that no part of the vert is that old, it could help me make a deal. I will post updates as i get them.

Is there any noticeable differences in the frame between a 52 vert and a 56/57 vert?

Easiest difference to spot is to look at the heater knob on the tunnel, 56-57's the knob is located right next to the shifter, on the 52-54ish?, it is right behind the handbrake.
