Can anyone help identify this additional baffle? It has lettering on it that is hard to read. It says "Stot" or "Stob" or something like that. This cap came from an early 1952 beetle that was parted out in Germany. Thanks for your help.

Itīs called "Plantsch Stopp" in german. Something like splash stop.
It was meant to stop splashing sounds from fuel that goes into the filling neck when you drive around. |

I bet it was to stop fuel from leaking out through the vented gas cap. |
