Sorta! (ish)

First: Dash table pics for Stever1000:

Hooks on the dash where the table goes:

Seen pictured w/o the leg, but since I dont have one, I'll do like others here and make one out of a dowell rod and stain it to match the cabinets I suppose. Let me know if you need other pics.

Here's my issue. I disassembled that cheapish stock exhaust I got a few weeks back. Issues abound.

First, the tailpipe was garbage. this will never do. Luckily I have another one in great shape, so this one can go away.

Next, this piece had like four large holes in it. Yep. That wont ever do. Again, luckily I had another in perfect shape. (Guess this hoarding is paying off...)

Next is the muffler. Sounds crunchy when I roll it around, so ITS going away too. Hmm. Not so sure this is shaping out to be as good a deal as I thought, since I basically have to replace everything. And does this piece come off the muffler?

Lastly, the one part I really wanted.

And every damn one of these are broken. How hard/easy are they to replace?

Otherwise, the pipe is completly solid, and worth (I guess) what I paid for the exhaust. And with stock exhaust parts seeming to be at a premium, I figured what the heck. So, tell me how to replace those studs (two I can see how to get out, but that third one?) so I can have this thing coated and try to keep up with the Westfabulouseseseses. :wink:

PS: Who has the best quality replacement muffler?

Hi Kirk, the best thing I have found is to spray them every day for a couple of weeks, Hitting the studs with a hammer to brake the rust ring (old plumbers trick) and allow the penatrent to wick in. It looks like you have enough threads sticking out to get some vise grips on. I have found that by filing two flats on the stud it helps the vise grips take hold. Then just start rocking back and forth tightening and loosening and they will come out. If you have access to a propane torch or a sorce of heat this will help.

Kirk, that pipe on the muffler is the Cat delete pipe, and it will slide off. The muffler looks almost ready for the garbage can to me. I would not invest a penny into coating it; that's just my .02.

I bought the exhaust for that crosspipe and the cat delete. The rest is disposable.

I'm just trying to figure out what the strap looks like that supports the exhaust and connects to the fan housing. I wasn't sure if you had it installed yet when I asked a couple days ago. I will keep searching the gallery

Very nice Kirk. Good job. If you buy some Testors model paint you can custom mix a touch up color that will make that thing look new. The subliminal messaging of your post made me hungry; now I feel like I need to eat chips.....just can't decide what brand.

This must be misc project month. My side rails have always bothered me. They have some terrible touch up work done to them.

So when my buddy said he was parting out a bus, I went and nabbed these OG paint bad boys.

They waxed right up.

But are a PITA to re install! (and it got dark)

Sometimes its the small things.

Take it with you to the Hobby Shop, and see what they have. If they don't have a match, I prefer to lighten a dark color with white. I'd buy a white, red, orange and brown, and mix'er up to perfection.

I have a big hole in my muffler and need to replace it too-

What a glorious day! Some nice weather finally let me tie up some long lingering projects. Nothing major, but lotsa pics!

First, I replaced the drivers side slider cover since I did the passengers already. Smooth OG paint beats a crappy touch up every time.

Dirty. Well that just not gonna work. And there is some surface rust where the paint flaked off.

Guess I'll treat it with some por 15 and a q tip? Then wax? BOOM. Can you see my repair? Nope. Everyone removes these things and waxes under them including the brackets, right? RIGHT?! Sigh. We need a support group I think. Over cleaners anonymous. My name is Kirk, and I like Mequires.

Moving on, on this weeks episode of "The sun is shining and my ass is piddling." This passenger side kick panel has always bothered me. You can kinda see it here.

Heat and glue, and yes, I did manage to get the wrinkle out at the bottom. This makes me haz a happy. Hated driving and looking down and seeing that flap. Although, I may have to give Werksberg a shout if I cant find a drivers side one, mine is broken, sadly. Hrmp.
