Less than a week away and no thread yet so here it is. There is supposed to be a big wine thing going on this weekend also, so we gotta get to the park early to keep out all them obnoxious wine snobs!!!

March 14, 2010 - 7th Annual "Sonntag Treffen" Murphys, California

Hosted by the Mother Lode Volkswagen Club in conjunction with the Tri-Dam Lions Club

VW fans and valley VW clubs are invited to join us at the Black Bart Playhouse parking lot in historic downtown Murphys. This event is free and open to the public!

10 am to 2 pm
BBQ, beer, soda & water available (please no outside alcohol)

Bring your VW, stuff to swap, easy-up awnings, sand chairs and an appetite!
No cost to attend or swap

Rain or Shine! Snow cancels.

This is an opportunity for local VW clubs and individuals to network, discuss upcoming events, promote our clubs to the public and just enjoy the spring with friends.

There will be a raffle, which will end with a 50/50 raffle. The grand raffle prize is a 2 HP portable compressor. Raffle proceeds will go to Visiting Nurses Association/Hospice, which serves the tri-county area. For more information visit www.vwswap.com or call Don at 209/293-7705. NOTE: THIS IS NOT A JUDGED SHOW

Well it looks like there WILL be plenty of parking if the response to this thread is any indication! Don't worry Jen, we'll be there for sure. Plus, we need to go pay our respects to Stanley, which I believe is near where we're staying. So we'll see you Sunday if you don't end up making it to the hotel Saturday.

EDIT...DON'T FORGET TO SET YOUR CLOCKS TONIGHT AN HOUR FORWARD!

We're looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow! Weather is nice today and going to be awesome tomorrow....THANK GOD!

We will be doing our usual free BBQ lunch (until the food runs out...we didn't run out of anything last year, and everyone was well fed) and the Tri-Dam Lions Club will be hosting the beer/soda/water booth. Love those guys! So, please...support them and throw some coin their way.

My Comcast was down for the last few days...not good...finally called, and the guy was able to repair it via phone (he lives in Sacramento, and actually knows a lot of the VW crowd...small world).

My suggestions are for warm clothing in the morning, including some gloves or mittens...still a little frosty.
It's supposed to get rather warm in the afternoon so don't forget to bring your sunscreen.

The compressor is the grand prize, but we'll have several other items for the raffle too. GIRL SCOUT COOKIES and of course tools. We also have a gentleman who is wanting to donate a narrowed beam. And for those who haven't heard, this is a 50/50 raffle, which means the winner gets half of the profit, and the other half goes to Hospice/VNA...all a good cause.

Thanks everyone, and can't wait to see you all. We will definitely have Stan (Folkslaggen), Barbara (Mother Lode VW) and HamburgerBrad (our buddy from So. Cal.) in our thoughts. Last winter was very tragic with the loss of three of our great VW friends. Let's celebrate their lives. They would have all wanted it that way.

Thank you to ALL of you who came to our event today. We really appreciate you all and hope you enjoyed the day, and had a safe trip home. Great weather and we had a blast with the barbecue and the raffle. The 50/50 raffle proceeds will be going directly to the Visiting Nurses' Association/Hospice.

It was also nice to meet some of you Samba people, face to face, who I have chatted with. And it gave me a lot of peace to acknowledge Barbara Ryan, from the Mother Lode VW Club, Stanley Nixon, from the Folkslaggen VW Club, Mr. Nixon (Stan's awesome dad who was an avid VW guy) and of course, Brad (Hamburger Brad) Williams who all died this last year. We had a moment of silence on all of their behalves. There were a lot of thumbs up during that moment. Very cool.

Again, thank you everyone for your generosity. It was a good day.

It was really nice to finally meet you Jennifer.

The ride there was long and winding but worth the drive. We had a great time.

Thank you!
