Ok,,getting what is supposed to be a 56,,problem is front apron is gone,,as is the metal where the Tag and # are supposed to be ( metal that is there is replacement and nothing stamped in the metal ) Can I get all the info I need from the # on the pan ?
There is no motor ,,someone put gauges in the center of the dash,,and front seats and front fenders are missing.. Pretty sure the Red is the original paint ..
As far as getting it back to something usable,,do I have to find a trashed 56 to get the tag and #'s from or ..........??

| Assuming the chassis is original, all you need is the chassis number on the tunnel under the rear seat. If you have that, you can determine month and year of build and you can register the car if you have a title. |

So the tool tray area has no numbers stamped... You wont be able to get a Body # for your 56 with the VIN, even from the BC.. When and if you decide to order a BC, it will give you some of the basic info on your ride.. VIN, Color (Maybe), M-Codes, Day of Birth and Date finished as well as destination..
Unless you buy a tool tray piece that is from a 56, that would slide in there..with some metal work required of course.. So no stamping right there behind the brake fluid resevoir on the tool tray wall??? Just making sure..cause the fact that the apron is missing has nothing to do with where the numbers are stamped.. Not being a smart ass just going off what you wrote and your concerns..

| If all you are concerned about is the tag and not the original metal, there are replacment tags available that you can stamp your numbers in. |

I know the apron missing has nothing to do with it,,but it seems that when they took that out they also replaced the metal where the #'s go...almost seems as though it is undercoated...and will double check ,,but figured teh #'s would still be visible even with the undercoating |

Hey where in PA are you?? We live in Templeton PA.
I have seen front aprons on here that were take offs. But they are not cheap. I would go with Wolfsburg West. Once you put it on there an a bumper in front of it nobody will notice.
Keep the pics comming, I too have a old Oval that I am trying to fix up. 8) |
