  View original topic: accelerator pedal not moving caburettor enough

Hi Guys;
My bus is a 75 formerly fuel injected (FI),
I did the FI to Weber caburettor conversion, I find that the accelerator pedal won't depress enough to give the range to move the new carburettor accelerator arm thru its entire range.

I hav the throttle wired partly open, so there is slightly higher revs at idle, but it is the only way I can get up to 50mph. But obviously this isn't ideal, and besides I still can't get any decent hiway speeds.

Any ideas ???

Thanks

you will need to make sure nothing is obstructing your accelerator pedal from getting full throttle.

my bus has the conversion aswell and i have no issues going from fully closed to WOT

Check the cable run over the top of the tranny. Sometimes they get hung up on something down there.

A picture of your throttle cable hook up at the carb would be nice. There is no standard for doing a progressive conversion and most conversions are really hurting in a simple dependable cable attachment. If the length of the lever arm where the cable attaches too long you will not get enough movement in the lever. That said, the best systems IMHO use a barrel nut. Here is a picture of the barrel nut linkage on a junk progressive carb I have lying around.

Check you have the cable preloaded enough. Your pedal travel might be soaking up some slack. Or if the new carb is farther forward you may need to modify the cable.

BTW, since no one asked is this a single carb or duals?
From what I remember of the past Webers I had, you had to modify the cable by cutting the end off and it had to be to the correct length for the adapter barrel connector that came with them.....This was on a single carb.

And yes a photo would be helpful.
