Any advice...???

I have a 73 super and I'm going to do the 4x100 conversion...

I wanted to do a staggered wheel. XXR 002 15"x7" et38 (back spacing is 5.5")in the front and 15"x8" et0 (backspacing is 4.5")in the back. Will a 15" wheel work in the front of a Super... I hear the balljoints may get in the way. I have 1.5" wider fenders for the rear as I'm sure they'll stick out a bit. I would rather do 15" than 16" wheels if I can. I have these struts in the front...

Thanks in advance...

If you are going to change bolt patterns for aftermarket wheels, consider using the 5 X 114.3 bolt pattern. On ebay there is many more choices of wheels using this bolt pattern than 4 X 100.

The problem with 5x114.3 is you need to buy blank brakes front and back to redrill.

It's not safe to do it to the stock ones as the new stud pattern cuts into the original one and most of the studs miss the strengthening webs and go through the thin metal in between so it ends up being more costly.

I looked at going that way as the choice is bigger but there are still 1000s of cars out there that use 4x100 and most rims are multi stud with 4x114.3 as well.
I've never had problems finding a set.

I see how anyone redrilling their 4 lug drums would only consider using the 4 X 100 bolt pattern. I will clarify that if you are buying predrilled drums or changing to disc brakes, you can purchase 5 x114.3 bolt pattern for the same price as 4 X100. I beleive the larger selection of wheel types, sizes, offsets and prices of 5 X114.3 wheels make them worthy of consideration.

Another thing to keep in mind is the superior hubcentric drum/rotor of the late Supers...you may end up with the right bolt pattern, but the wrong diameter hub for the rim, BTDT...To correct, I used bolt-on spacers (same bolt-pattern) machined to fit VW hub on the back and Porsche hub on the front.

If you're buying blanks to start with then yes I agree 5x114.3 or 5x100 is the best way to go, I was only talking stock 4x130 brakes being redrilled.
