I'm new to the VW scene, I got my 56' bug a few months ago (first car actually) and have been wanting to re-do my front end. First off I'm going to have it narrowed 4 inch ( cause that is what i heard you can do most with out heavy modifications) and Drop Wide Five disk brake kit with 2.5 inch drop spindles from CB performance and then a little bit down the road i want to put BRM's on it. I like the tire set up I have now. I have 145's in the front and 195's in the rear (Rear is lowered 2 notches going up to one notch pretty soon more of a cal-looker). In the front its about 7 inches off the ground from the lowest part of the front apron.

So I've been looking all this stuff up and this seems like what i would want to run. If any of you guys have any suggestion or tip on when you did any of this stuff it be a great help for a Newbie :o
Thanks for reading

(P.S. None of those pictures are really mine. Just got them off the Samba search. But pictures always get people to stop and look. It does me  )

I ran a 4 inch shortened beam on my bug with cb's 2.5 drop spindles and cb disk brakes. In the front im running 205/45's with 16x6 fuchs and still have lots of room to the fender edge. Consider going with 3inch shortened and retain your shock towers with shocks. Consider doing the disk brakes as planned. Disk brakes are superior to drum and you will be happier you did it.

4" is a good choice with disc brakes, especially if you're looking for more of a cal look stance and not something 2" off the ground. Just keep in mind the drop spindles and disc brakes will push out the track width, so a 4" beam on a drum car will look slightly more narrow. Congrats on the new car, that looks like a clean oval from your avatar!
