Roughly about 5 years back while at our local dealership, I asked the parts dept. man if they had any new wheel tire valves on hand from Volkswagen. As luck would have it.. they still could get some but would've had to order. They were Part# 281-601-361, BTW.
So made an order for a bag full to do multiple wheels. When they arrived I saw on the cap logo that they were made by a company called Alligator.
This is from the passenger car category which resembles the ones that I purchased: http://www.alligator-ventilfabrik.de/index.php?Passenger_car_Snap-In_valves
(Standard Snap-In for hole diameter 11,3)
Has anyone had any experiences with this brand (good or bad)?
And is there any stores these can be purchase from here in America, other than through the dealership? |

I guess you never heard about the recall on tire valve stems that were made in -- yep, you guessed it -- CHINA! 30 million valve stems were made from the wrong type of rubber. When exposed to UV, they would crack badly and break off. Lots of fun on the freeway!

I needed to replace all of them because of age/dry rot. And at that time, I didn't know where to buy any air-stems from that was specifically used for stock VW wheels... so asked one day while down at the dealership.
Plus it's just nice to have an item made from Germany vs. something from an unknown source or cheap stuff from China. :) |

Sad. Never heard about that story but, isn't very surprising.
