i am trying to figure out the location of my front shock hoops. Can someone help with some figures or some calculations. I have been searching the forums for some tips and unable to find any concrete answers. Basically i think that i am asking for a "how to setup front suspension" Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

There is no one formula that fits all application for the upper hoops. What you will want to do is bolt your shock to your lower arm and cycle it through. You want your shock to be perpendiculay to the lower arm at full bump. Once you do this you can determine where your upper bolt will go and make your hoops accordingly. Here's a picture of mine.

like baja 5 said its really different depending on the car. but the best way is to just cycle the suspension with no springs and see where the limits are and then go from there, its also a good time to figure out where to mount bump stops. heres a pic for ideas

With the shocks off the lower arm it's impossable to get a really good motion ratio. The best your going to get is to lean them forward till the are touching the top beam tube at full droop.
