so i just got my baja back from getting wired up for being street legal and had a 44idf taken off in favor of a pic 34.....its a 1641 dp. i know i lost some power but it seems to be bogging down quite a bit when i drive it i really have to pump the petal to keep her alive then she suddenly catches and zooms off.

possible jets clogging or??????

009 distributor with a 34 PICT carb.
Not a good combination.

The advance curve for the 009 distributors is not a good combination for the 34 PICT distributor.
The distributor advances too fast, and the fuel leans out before the engine gets up to RPM.
If you have one of the distributors without the vacuum advance, then you have an 009 distributors, whether it has Pertronics in it or not.

Get a different distributor.
Get an SVDA distributor. Single vacuum, dual advance.
Your 34 PICT carb with have a vacuum fitting to use with it.

i know this might be a dumb question but im trying to learn.

how do i tell if i have a .009 dizzy or what kind i have??

is it like the first numbers on a product number?

i have a 1600dp with 34 pict3 what dizzy would be best?

like a stock kind i cant put any money into that right now.
i need to actually get the engine running before i can spend money upgrading.

dont mean to hijack the thread or anything.

009 does not have a vacuum advance, and has an aluminum body.
The last 3 digits of the Bosch part number stamped into the housing.
And the ones that are sold new, now days, come from China, and do not last very long.
