View original topic: Wheel Fitment Question

I'm considering a wheel for my 1967 Beetle. I'm going with disc brakes all around and I am going to run the short rear axles. I can get the wheel in 2 sizes. The front wheel will be a 15x5...no fitment issues there especially since I can narrow the beam to whatever I need.
My main concern is fitting the rear wheel. The next size up in width for this wheel is a 15x7 with a 3.76" backspacing. I'm not sure if there is enough backspacing to tuck the 15x7 wheel in the rear? Probably run a 205/60-15 tire.
Anybody think they can give me a pretty accurate answer for this?

Thanks

Im in the same spot as you but I have a 68 type 1, I have had several people tell me that you can run a 195 tire with stock axle tubes and 215 with shorter axle tubes even with a stock 15x5.5 rim. below is a link to show you what it would look like.
