| On my 56 about halfway down the steering column towards the passengers side there is a knob or something?? What was it for? Its not hooked up to anything. |

| It's part of the ground circuit to the horn. Just as a generator brush works, it keeps contact with the steering column as it turns. |

| There's a little clip that holds it in the tube, pull the clip and work the unit out, you should find the remnants of the brush with a spring on the end of it, just like a power tool motor brush. Get a new brush, hook it up and you just might have a working horn button again. |
