View original topic: new interior, help me choose - pics would help

ok, I'm undecided on new interior for my 68 squareback. it's diamond blue (I think) it has beat up black stock interior. I also have some lowbacks I'm going to switch over to, ill post up some pics later this afternoon so you can help me find out what year they are

so basically, I live in Houston, and I'm not too fond of black interior because of the heat. or the vinyl. so I need ideas. I don't like tweed either. I want something that looks stock though, so vinyl isn't completely out of the question. To go with the light blue, I was thinking a light grey or dark blue seat upholstery and door panels would look good. I'd even do red, I've seen early bugs with this combo, and once you get over the fact that red and blue don't belong together, it actually looks good

thoughts on colors and material? and then what about carpet color? I'm not on an unlimited budget, but I'm not a cheap ass either. I'd luv some dark grey split window bug material from Lenny, and he's my homie and all, but I don't think I could afford all of that goodness

I'd say go with a silver grey. That was an original upholstery choice on Marina Blue, which was close to Diamond Blue.

There are several different versions in the low back seat. I think it might depend on what style you have, as to what will look good.
Something in a velour maybe?

I think these are 65-66 seats, since the pattern goes all the way to the top?

the car in question

I like the silver grey idea, I'll have to look in the gallery

Some type of blue velour?
Maybe dark blue fake leather with lighter blue velour where the basket weave is now.

Those are 66 or 67 seats due to the tall sided upper corners. The 65 style is more rounded.
That being said, I'd go with a silver or light gray velour for the seats, and maybe a silver or light gray, or even white vinyl for the door panels.
I too hate sticking to vinyl, so I went with velour in my cars, as I drive them mostly in the summer months. My wife's Fastback has dark gray velour seats and black door panels, and it seems dark inside, although the seats are starting to lighten up (fade). My 65 Notch hasdark gray seats and dark gray velour door panels (TMI's mistake, as I ordered vinyl), and it's lighter, and looks more luxurious. My 71 Notch has cut down factory seats with dark gray velour, and painted bright white stock door panels, and it's very bright inside. The white door panels make it lighter inside, and seem to help keep the inside cooler.
