I have a '68 with some '67 parts, I suspect the ww assembly I have is a '67,-- '68 assembly will not fit in the car. I use the Bentley Blue book for reference but the connector number system in the Bentley does not match what I have.
The switch in the car is the same as the Bentley but the ww motor identification is different. My connector numbers are 31, 31b, 53, and 53b. Bentley is 31b, 53, 53a, and 53b.
Would the #31 terminal on the my motor be the same as the #53a on the motor in the book. How do I connect the #31 terminal on the switch to the dimmer switch as shown in the book? Or do I connect the two number 31's together, if so what is the #53a for on the switch?? :?
Thanks for the help. |

Can you show picture of your switch?
There must be 53a too!?!

#31 terminal is Ground terminal!
Tell us motor numbers too, picture of motor will help too.

Thanks for the help.
Let's solve first mistery, then dimmer switch.

I cannot see much of the motor , thus could not get a part number from it. The switch is the typical 6 pin switch for year '62 - '71(HOG)
I did get everything working 2 speed and parking. I kept switching wires from connector to connector and after burning up a few fuses everything seems to be fine. The final change I made was moving the wire from switch connector #31 to switch connector #53a.
Switch connector #31 is currently not connected to anything and all seems OK....I still do not understand why the Bentley book shows #31 connected to the dimmer switch. :D |
