What is the box to the right of the voltage regulator? Is it the FI relay? There are a couple unhooked wires that lead from this relay to the engine compartment. I didn't notice them until the other day after they started smoldering. Can I disconnect these wires from the relay now that the FI is gone?

Yes, those are the power wires to the FI ECU. If they shorted out, then the wires at the other end are probably against the ground.
They would be on the left side of the engine compartment right opposite the #
3 and #4 spark plugs. |

| That is exactly where they are and after I got the car home I noticed that they grounded out. Is it okay to remove them from the relay, since it isn't being used? |
