I am in need of some advise I have decided to install a 3.0 L TDI diesel motor in my buggy will run on bio fuel .

I will tow a aluminum tool trailer 6X10 will weigh up to 3000 pounds fully loaded should be about 2200 pounds most of the time will have disc brakes on the trailer and the buggy rear axle.

Question is will a six rib bus trans built with a proper HD ring and pinion be able to handle the load from towing.

Would really like to keep the tranny budget under 3k

The TDI motor produces 221 HP and 407 lb-ft of torque

Thanks Guys

I believe there was a thread on this a few months back. The topic quickly turned to safety, stopping, and what insurance will not cover if there is an accident.

If babied, yes it should hold up. But you will need a fully built 091, and a new ring and pinion will push that over 3k. That is ALOT of torque for an 091 though. Im interested in this project, would be neat to see how it turns out.
