Anybody have an opinion on the book "How to restore Volkswagen Beetle" by Jim Tyler?
Good, bad, expensive, not worth it, buy it?
Thanks. |

Haven't actually looked at the book myself. However, I have found the Amazon.com product reviews extremely useful. Here's the review page for that book:

I personally have the VW Beetle & Transporter: Restoration Manual and it is pretty good as well. |

| IMO that is the WORST book ever written on restoring a VW. Don't waste your time with it. |

I have both this book and Lindsay Porter's book VW Beetle and Transporter Restoration Manual (a British Haynes manual). I found some good information in both books, but most of the stuff I've learned have been from the Bentley manual, How to Rebuild Your Volkswagen air-Cooled Engine (All models, 1961 and up) by Tom Wilson, the Bug Me Video series, and most of all, right here on theSamba. Mostly, I think the two restoration manuals were a waste of money for me.
But that's my opinion. Of course, more reference materials are a good thing. |
