Since the M407 refers to folding seats on Type 2, could it refer to the front seat latch styles on the T-3?
The cables running under the front floor mats, or the latch on the side of the backrest??

Not on Aussie cars

Aussie built cars did not use the cable release mechanisms. The whole mechanism is complete gone out of the seat bottom and never had any levers

Mine is an odd lot...The color is listed as Polar White on the front bulkhead paint label...I think I posted a pic in my photos. It has stainless steel side molding, wraparound chrome turn signal housings and chrome wing window frames...it has red needle gauges & clock and beetle style armrests...there is a photo of my interior in my photos...it also still has the original aussie gas cap with the kangaroo stamping on the underside...I think I have some additional oddball features listed in the captions on the photos...check them out.

I think it may be a Deluxe 'N' :?

Check out the Samba thread above...

M407="Klappsitze im fahrgastraum"...translates to: Folding Seats In the Passenger Compartment.

If that's true, seems that cars from other parts of the world would have it too...??

Yes, but those are Type 2 M-codes. My understanding has always been that the same M-code does not mean the same thing for all Types. Correct or no?

You're probably correct Tram...it was the only thing I found that made any reference to the M407 code so I thought I'd put it up here...it would be nice to hear from someone with a non-aussie car that had the same code on their T3 birth cert or someone who had some definative record of this code on a T3...seems the jury is still out to me.
