I bought the WW fuel line to install onto my 1500 and it was nowhere near the right shape. There was no chance of it fitting through the front tin and hooking up to the fuel pump, almost like it was inches too long. Has anyone else had this problem?

I wound up practically straightening it out and re-bending it to fit into the spark plug clip on my fan shroud that has a slot for the fuel line. Anybody know what years the fan shroud plug clips also contained the fuel line? I have to imagine that the shape is totally different, so I wonder if the line is a different part # for that time period? The bus parts manual only lists 113 127 521A as being correct for 30-, 34-, 42-, and 44 bhp engines.

All the things you just said have happened. The WW ones and the real VW are totally different in most cases.

Mine fit perfectly on my 1500 but I was not running it through the clip on the fan shroud, that would require a different shape.

I did run it through a '67 Bug style clip that attached to the left side fan shroud mounting nut.

Example from Gallery (from BarryL coincidentally):

SCAT aftermarket shroud, didn't feel bad about the screw.

New OEM Puma shroud!
Waiting on my 3 wire clip from WW

Looks clean, but I would try to keep the fuel line at least a few inches away from the intake manifold to avoid vapor lock and such.

Maybe it would not cause a problem but I don't like having a metal line clamped to a fan housing because of vibration and the line should not be so close to the manifold end.
My 1957 bus had the German fuel hose (about 4,000 miles on it) that goes from the end of the fuel hose to the fuel pump split while I was drivng the bus and a flame came out of the end of the metal line. The fuel hose was less resilient because it was so short and there was no support on the metal line. I attatched the fuel line to the third space on the spark plug wire holder and used Gates double-wall nylon reenforced fuel hose instead of the thin, single-wall unreenforced German fuel hose. The clamps are the solid type that are curved up, a little, on each side. My 1963 camper has the same setup and there has been no problem.
