I know you guys are prolly gunna be mad that a oval got cut up for a baja but thats how i bought it.. lol
My question is.. is there any place on the body(besides front apron) that has a stamped number or vin that will allow me to tell what year i have? The guy i bought it from said it was either a 56 or 58 and i know they didnt make a 58 oval..

Any and all help is greatly appreciated

behind the spare tire, where the brake fluid reservoir is are number stampings. Post here.

Also, where are the heater vents located?

I just went out and took the brake resivoir off and cleaned the metal behind it down to bare metal and had no luck finding any numbers!?!? I tried taking pics but it was getting to dark and the flash would just glare back so i will get some tomorrow..

Also, my heater ducts were cut out by the PO but they are behind the driver/Passenger seat and kinda curve out..

I cleaned right behind the brake resivoir, is this the correct spot or is it close to it? Passenger side possibly? inside the car??

HELP PLEASE!!

This is where you should be looking for the VIN.

The heater ducts we are talking about are on the floor up front where you put your feet. Sorry bad picture.

I dont have that part of the body. The PO must of cut it off? and that second pic is exactly how my ducts are!

The door hinges are RIVETED to the door. On many years look really carefully at the head of the rivet, the year is stamped on it.

Remove the window regulator, most often has the year stamped on it.

Look at the back of the Speedometer or fuel gauge, the month and year are often stamped on it.

There are many many ways to tell but you'd really need to know VW's.
