Thanks.....

Different front fenders or wheels.

fenders and wheels are the same, thats whats puzzling me....

Are the torsion arms on all the way against the seals on the beam?
Did some one do a horrible job on a narrow beam?
Are there issues with the frame head?
Measure the distance between the shock towers and the body...it may narrow your search as to whats going on.

I have the same thing! Not so much with the distance... but still it's a teeny bit off.. odd.

If your only a little bit off it could be incorrect shimming of the spindles or a off centered beam
Hope this helps

is there any adjustment to the beam in either direction ???

My 62 has the same thing, then again..it was driven over a small center divider when the brake line burst.

It's been over 43 years since it rolled out the factory door. Are you sure you have a matching set of factory fenders?

Exactly. I would mark the center of the frame head. Measure left to end of beam tubes and then right and see if the numbers match.

Repo fenders are narrower than German. I'm guessing you have one of each.

I have seen if they are hit in the front usually one corner or the other
it puts a slight tweek in the fender that makes it look uncentered, it doesnt have to be that hard of a hit to cause this, i would measure the fender from side to side and compare as well as measur one end to the other and compare.

it has creative carcraft 3" oversize fenders, they are very high quality fglass repos, and they fit perfect, i am going to do some measuring to see where it may be off. i`ll post pics soon

nee67 Thu Mar 18, 2010 5:17 am

Yep, mines exactly the same too.
Im convinced the guards / wings / fenders are a bit squiffy as it has has a slight front end mishap in the past...
seems to drive in a straight line without problems, which is always a bonus!

67 Shane Thu Mar 18, 2010 6:42 am

the fenders can be spot on but the front metal tweaked from an accident. Look for evidence of collision or bending in the trunk or inner fenders.

heres a pic, didnt have time to measure anything tonight but this is the close side... still clears the fender without scraping though and goes down the road nice and straight.
