| I don't consider it "ruining" later model backing plates if they are going to be put to use in an older bus, and the stock emergency brake cables can then be used. I've done it for my 1957 standard and my 1958 camper, and I am about to use them in my 1958 walk-thru standard. It has the look of the stock plate, only bigger. |

Maybe because your method would ruin a perfectly good late backing plate. I suppose if you could weld, you could put it back.
I am still on the fence with this topic, don't know which method is best.
You make it sound like backing plates are worth something, I have a nice set of rears for $20ea. and no takers, hard to justify removing them for that.
Making the adapters and running '64-'67 cables is not hard, taking them to a shop and having new ends pressed on like factory is very reliable. I see no problems with all methods, don't see the Cameron method though... |

| Maybe in your area they are a plentiful, but near me hard to find. Besides why cut a late plate when you can buy new '64-'67 cables to modify? |

| When later model brake plates are available, that is the way to go. I had a stack of them and I never would have used them, otherwise. For anyone who cannot find any, that would be a problem. It is great to be able to use the stock emergency brake cables and have brake plates that look stock, except that they are bigger. |
