Once in a while, I have noticed that I can tap and wiggle the translucent in-line fuel filter and bubbles will travel through it. Not all the time, but occassionally. Is this something to investigate further? I'm assuming it's not a good thing.\\\
It's a 1600 DP engine.

Where is the filter mounted?

The filter is mounted about 5 inches before the fuel pump. It basically sits vertically. So I can see the bubbles run from the bottom into the body of the filter.
(I know I need to relocated on the other side of the engine. Just havnt done that yet.)

Air before the filter could be a tiny leak in the joint at the bottom of the tank or a pourous rubber line, if it isn't oozing out anywhere while it's parked it's not really anything to worry about. But it may be an indicator that the screen in the tank is almost clogged and the fuel pump draws bubbles instead of easy to get gas.

Thanks. I replaced all the fuel line a few weeks ago. So I know that part is good. It's a '71 Westy, with the original fuel tank. So perhaps it's the tank filter or the joint you mention? When I replaced the line, fuel ran freely, everywhere. So I dont think it's a clog. But a tiny leak makes sense. I guess I should just keep a close eye on it. Pulling the tank sounds like a fairly involved project.
