i just got done installing my 002 tranny over thepast few weeks. i put a new throw out bearing in as well. yesterday i out the motor back in. i got everything hooked up and started it. pushed the clutch in and put it in gear. there was a whining noise coming from it everytime with the pedal pushed in. anyne know what it couls be?

I am going to say that it is your throw out bearing. Ensure that it is lined up and not migrating out away from the tranny.

The pilot bearing is the bearing in the gland nut on a bug engine, or the end of the crank on a bus style engine.
It should be lubricated or replaced everytime you have the clutch apart.
If you have a bug engine, and a bus trans, there can be some fit up problems, depending on the trans that you have. The mainshaft on a 1700 and up bus trans has a longer snout.

Isn't there a difference in the 002 transmissions in that one of the styles takes the pressure plate collar while the other does not? I had this problem on my sandrail in that I needed to take the collar off of the pressure plate.

Collar did not start until 1971 IIRC. I can look at the parts book to be sure.
