| i just got done installing my 002 tranny over thepast few weeks. i put a new throw out bearing in as well. yesterday i out the motor back in. i got everything hooked up and started it. pushed the clutch in and put it in gear. there was a whining noise coming from it everytime with the pedal pushed in. anyne know what it couls be? |

| I am going to say that it is your throw out bearing. Ensure that it is lined up and not migrating out away from the tranny. |

The pilot bearing is the bearing in the gland nut on a bug engine, or the end of the crank on a bus style engine.
It should be lubricated or replaced everytime you have the clutch apart.
If you have a bug engine, and a bus trans, there can be some fit up problems, depending on the trans that you have. The mainshaft on a 1700 and up bus trans has a longer snout. |

| Isn't there a difference in the 002 transmissions in that one of the styles takes the pressure plate collar while the other does not? I had this problem on my sandrail in that I needed to take the collar off of the pressure plate. |

Collar did not start until 1971 IIRC. I can look at the parts book to be sure.
