Hi there!I just purchased an used stinger and I'd like to remove the baffle to clean it up.
I guess it could be removed easily...but it seems to be blocked...maybe due to rust...
Any hint to remove it?
Actually...I don't know how to do it...This is the first time I got a stinger...
Maybe by rotating or hook the hole I can see at the bottom of the baffle itself...?
I tried by hitting gently with a hammer on a screw driver handle...but nothin happened...
Thanks!

| usualy there are tw set screws or rivets in the side of the stinger... pull them and the bafle should come out with a twist back and forth. |

| first one I had I couldn't get out, so, after removing everything that looked like it could be holding it I got angry and drove off, er, angrily. It just blew out the megaphone about 40 feet in the air before I got out of the parkinglot. Glad it didn't hit anyone. That'll teach a garage to put crap in my car I didn't ask for. "Too loud to work on", my ass. Get some baffles for your HEAD, man... I'm 17 and I like to scare Harley riders in underpasses. |

What kind of stinger is it?
I had a 1-5/8" tri-mill years ago (late 80's) and the baffle was pressed into the pipe so I took an exaust pipe cutter and cut the pipe about 1/2" from the top.Popped right out. If you dont have one the auto parts stores should have one to loan you.
That is until I got pulled over and the judge made me put the baffle back in.
Sounded cool though. |

Thanks to everybody...
Here some pics...
It is clearly pressed...
As I wrote before...at the bottom baffle has a little hole on a side...Maybe this could be helpful for removing it...maybe not...
Thanks!

Nickel every time you post!
I don't see the hole at the bottom of the baffle... Is it welded into the stinger? You thought about just getting a new stinger? They are like 15 bucks, right? Then you could have a "date" stinger and a "play" stinger. Or, if need be, show up to court with the baffled one in to show how you are now playing nice. |

The hole is there...Sorry for the blurred pic...
Anyway...it seems not to be welded...the bottom is free ...Just pressed in the top I guess...
Thanks for your help!

It does look pressed in.
It looks like you have good access from the other end so I would take a piece of 1/2" pipe or larger and see if you could tap it out. You might have to give it a good smack or two. Not too much though because you might run into a situation where you will have to put it back in. Like my case. |

| I have a Tri-Mil style stinger and I pulled the baffle out to clean up the packing. It was filled with some carbon, but once I put it all back together I didn't notice any difference in the sound level. It may not be worth it to pull it apart if you're likely to break it. |
